Modern Foreign Languages
Welcome to our MFL page!
At Middleforth we believe that MFL should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of other languages around the world. Children in Years 2-6 learn Spanish with our fantastic Spanish teacher Senorita Valero in fun, lively and engaging lessons once a week.
Please find below the current MFL Policy, Primary National Curriculum and Curriculum map.
In Year 3 this year, the children have been learning about their classroom and the things within it. They have also learnt instructions in Spanish that they might hear in the classroom for example 'sacad un bolígrafo' (get out your pen) and abrid los cuadernos (open your books). Most recently, the children have learnt the names of animals and whether they are masculine or feminine words. This was very tricky!
Year 3 Challenge: Do you know the names of these animals?
In Year 5, the children have learnt the names of lots of different breakfast items, such as leche (milk), pan (bread), cereales (cereal) and zumo de naranja (orange juice). The children are able to put these words in a sentence which starts with 'Desayuno...' (for breakfast I have...). They have learnt how to give their opinions I like, I love, I don't like and I hate.
The children have also mastered telling the time in Spanish! Well done Year 5.
