Here at Middleforth we are fortunate to have a comfortable and well-stocked library.
Our libray is open at lunchtimes for the junior children so they can come in and change their books or sit quietly and read. Our library monitors are a great help and are always on hand to help others. A box of books is available for our infant children to read outside at play times. Each class has a library slot during the week where they can go and enjoy looking and choosing their own book to read.
The whole school enjoys taking part in World Book day, this year each class read a story from a different country and dressed in that countries colours found in their flag. Activities were planned during the course of the day for children to explore the story. Children also very kindly donated their own books from home which they no longer read to the library so that others may enjoy reading the donated book.
We have also been very fortunate to welcome Authors into our school who have conducted workshops and shared their love of writing and reading stories with us.
Every year we welcome members from Kingsfold Library to Middleforth to share with us the summer reading challenge and show us some of the exciting new books the library has to offer.
At Middleforth we feel it is important not just to help children develop their reading skills, but also to encourage them in a life-long love of reading.
