Year 6 Residential Visit 2019

Although sometime away, the Year 6 residential trip to Tower Wood Outdoor Activity Centre in the Lake District has been provisionally booked.  The trip will take place between the dates of Monday 17th June to Wednesday 19th June 2019. Tower Wood Outdoor Activity Centre is situated on the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. It is a Lancashire County Council run centre and as such is highly efficient and well organised for delivering such activities. It is staffed by very experienced and qualified instructors and teachers and provides excellent accommodation - a beautiful Edwardian house on the shores of the lake, ideally situated for a wide range of exciting outdoor experiences which children love!  These can include:

hill walking, orienteering, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, rock climbing, abseiling, assault course and den building.

The activities are chosen to suit the requirements, age and ability of the children on the visit. All children are catered for irrespective of their age, capability or past experience. I and Mrs Coulthurst will accompany the children and other members of staff, yet to be decided. Qualified instructors based at Tower Wood will lead the activities. The accommodation is of a very high standard and school parties enjoy a wide range of home cooked meals, packed lunches and snacks – no one goes hungry and all tastes are catered for! If you would like to know more about the centre you can visit it on the following website:

The total cost of the trip is £215 which includes the cost of transport to and from Tower Wood, the accommodation and the activities led by qualified instructors. As this is a Lancashire County Council establishment, the cost for children who are entitled to Free School Meals is £165.  If you would like a place for your child please could you pay a £20 deposit by Friday 19th October via scopay. Once you have paid this deposit you will be liable for the full amount if you decide at a later date that you no longer want your child to go, other than in exceptional cases.  By completing the consent form, you are agreeing to this condition of payment.  Subsequent payments can be made in instalments over the months until the time of the visit.  I hope this letter has given you enough detail but please feel free to speak to me at any time if there is anything you wish to clarify. There will be a meeting shortly with more information.

Yours sincerely

Mrs J Higham
