Y1 Trip - 'Bring Yer Wellies'

Start: 4th Jul 2019 9:00am

Year 1 School Trip

As part of our creative curriculum topic, ‘Bring Yer Wellies!’ we have arranged for the children to spend the day at Bring Yer Wellies outdoor learning centre on Thursday 4th July 2019!

Some of the activities we will do during the day include:

  • Planting and learning about what plants need to survive.
  • Pond-dipping, exploring the bug hotels and wormery.
  • Outdoor team building games.
    Cost and permission:

We have tried our very best to not only find the best educational venue for your child’s visit but ensure that the trip is affordable and value for money.  We would therefore kindly ask parents for a voluntary contribution of £10.00 per child which includes exclusive entry, activities and coach journey. Unfortunately, if this contribution is not met then the trip will be unable to proceed. Payments can be made via the school office, should you wish to send in money with your child, please ensure this is in a clearly marked envelope.  Alternatively, you can pay using scopay, our online payment system. Payments must be made by Friday 7th June to provide enough time to cancel the trip should we need to.

As the children will be outside for most of the day we are sure they will work up quite an appetite!  As all children in Year 1 are entitled to a free school meal, a packed lunch can be provided for all children.  A school packed lunch consists of a ham, cheese, tuna or egg sandwich, a piece of fruit, a yoghurt, a biscuit and a bottle of water.  If you would prefer to provide your own packed lunch please ensure it is clearly labelled in disposable wrappings.  Please complete the school spider survey providing consent and also indicating your child’s choice of sandwich or whether they will have a packed lunch from home.

Water will be available throughout the day as well as a mid-morning snack.

Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.  As this is an outdoor learning centre we will be planting, digging and running about in a field.  We would therefore ask that children wear their own, sensible clothes (dependent on the weather).  Please wear clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting dirty or marked.  Children should wear wellies on the day and come to school dressed in their own clothes.  If you have any queries about this or problems please see us prior to the trip, the venue does not provide spare clothing.  If the weather is sunny please ensure your child has sun-block on prior to coming to school and bring with them a clearly labelled sun hat.  Again, if cold, windy or rainy (we will go whatever the weather), please ensure they have enough layers of clothing including something to block the wind and rain.

Children are to arrive at school at the normal time, once we have registered we will leave.  Children will be back ready to be picked up at the normal time of 3.15pm.

Medication and allergies:
If your child is marked down on our medical forms as needing an asthma pump they will not be permitted to join us unless we have their pump in school on that day.  Please ensure all asthma equipment is clearly labelled.

PLEASE can we ask that all items of clothing, food bags (including all the items of packaged food in their bag) and all drinks are labelled, this can really slow the departure time down if we have to go around labelling everything up, many thanks.

If you have any queries or concerns please feel free to come and see us prior to the visit.

Many thanks,

Mrs Gordon & Miss Edmondson
